I really enjoyed this book. It's an interesting read, seeing how entrapped women were in their roles in the 19th century. The heroine is, for the most part, admirable, although I did become disappointed in her at the end of the book (I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read the book yet, though). The Awakening is about a woman in New Orleans who becomes disenchanted with her life as a mother and wife when she meets and falls in love with (and becomes "sexually awakened" by) a young bachelor. She seeks to change her life, with unexpected consequences.

I just finished reading this book. It was an easy afternoon read. The most interesting thing about this book is that it was written 100 years ago. As a story about a woman coming to terms with her own sensuality and ability to assert herself, it is a book way beyond its years.

This book is currently available for immediate trade or release.

Thank you, narfinmagic! I have read this before and enjoyed it immensely. I've been wanting another copy to once again read and release. This book did a pretty good job of describing what women were up against way back. I'm fascinated with the social mores of that era.

Released on Sunday, December 14, 2003 at Raven's Nest Coffee OBCZ 330 N. Institute in Colorado Springs, Colorado USA.
