Tread Softly aka Dark Mountain

This is such a fun and freaky tale, it can only have been written by the late great MASTER of horror, Mr. Richard Laymon! Two families go camping in the mountains, and stumble upon the grounds of an old hag and her demented son. The hag is a sinister and dark witch, and her son has a taste for blood. Bad combination. The families have to battle for their lives only to return home and continue to battle against a deadly curse! With a great ending (Laymon's endings are always far out, this one is by far the most "normal" I've come across) to boot!

This book arrived today. Thanks stggal and Jaremeister!
The BEST book by Laymon I've read to date. A rollercoaster of chills and thrills it takes off from the first page and keeps you locked in until you turn the last page.
Everything about this story was a real treat. I do wish he wouldn't give us so much insight into the adolescent male psyche perhaps;-) but overall a real gem.

I Love Richard Laymon! LOL I finished this early this morning, and I enjoyed every last bloody bit of it. The story took such a completely different turn than I was expecting, and that was a lot of fun. Laymon--even with his breast obsession--was a master of the genre. I have yet to read one of his books that I don't like.
This is now going out to h3yd00. I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for starting this ring, Jaremeister. :)
