The Metaphysical Touch

This book is about connection in a modern world. A young woman, a graduate student finishing her doctoral dissertation on metaphysics, looses everything during the Berkeley/Oakland Hills fires in California. Afterward, she goes to live with a friend in Mendocino and becomes involved in "the early days of Net Chat rooms." In one of these chats she stumbles across a person (J.D.) who keeps an online diary in which he contemplates committing suicide. A relationship forms between them through online and email dialog about what it means to be alive and who one becomes or who one really is when you have lost everything. An intense, thought provoking book.
May this book eventually find the right connection out there in the wild!
