Didn't we all wait three years on the edge of our seats for this? To be honest, I waited about one year because I came into the Harry Potter craze late.
I have mixed feeling about this book. On the one hand, it's the continuing adventures of Harry and co. On the other, it wasn't as great as I expected. All those juicy little hints they released didn't quite deliver, particularly the one about the death of a Major Character. The entire plot leads to a climax that made me go "Duh!" Harry definately wasn't my favourite character here.
Seeing more of the other characters was GREAT though. I thought that the villian in this installment was a refreshing change from the dark shadow of Voldemort and assorted Death Eaters of the last four books.
I find myself looking at OotP in a more appraising manner than anything. We've had time to break it down and overanalyse it from every angle. The roleplaying geek in me is happy with the details of the milieu and the larger role played by the supporting cast.

A lot of angst from Harry. Hagrid also does something totally Hagrid-like. Some interesting developments in the storyline and enough to keep you going. A bit of a long read as I forgot a lot of things by the time I finished the book.
Returned.
