A nice short story about a strange (sort of) family living on a ranch. There is Jake Santee (a 99 year old gambler who believes he's immortal), his giant grandson Tiny (who likes building fences.. even though they don't have any cattle), and a very large duck called Fup (who eats a lot and doesn't fly). Well written and quite funny at times, though the end was a bit weird.. oh well, I guess it's supposed to be a sort of fairy tale? :P

A hitck-hiker!
Thank you.
Thank you.
A wonderful story about the relationship between grandfather, grandson, a duck & of course Ol' Death Whisper.
Granddaddy Jake lived for his whiskey, and towards the end of the book when Tiny and he walked back to the house he stated: "a drink was bound to be glorious, for it was totally needed and completely deserved."
I loved one of Johnny Seven Moons' sayings: "You know, I've seen 30 000 sunsets, and no two that I can remember have ever been the same. What more can we possibly want?"

A quite odd, but none the less interesting an cathing story.
I feel as if I'm invited; not only to the remote little farm where Jake and Tiny and Fup lives together, but also into the minds, thoughts and feelings of the caracters.
I'm also very fond of the side caracter Johnny Seven Moons.
He says about the land: "Yarrrg, you white men did a lot to take it from us, but nothing to deserve it. You desire to tame everything, but if you just stand still and FEEL for a moment you would know how everything yearns to be wild."

Thanks a lot, looks brilliant!
I enjoyed this short novel about two men and a duck, it made me laugh, but also think about what matters in life.
