The plot revolves around a British publisher who runs across someone in Russia who wants to share the state secrets. The story revolves around the discovery of the papers to how the British and American spy agencies find a way to recruit this unlikely source so that they can get the information they need. Le Carre has a interesting way of writing where he includes normal ordinary people who get involved in the spy game.
