The Angel's Game

It's always difficult following up one outstanding book with another, and that is the case with The Angel's Game. Carlos Ruiz Zafon's first novel, The Shadow of the Wind, was so tremendous that I wasn't sure he could repackage it in The Angel's Game. But I know readers who insist 'Angel's' is the better book. So after giving myself adequate time between the two novels, I finally read 'Angel's'....and was disappointed. Although there was some excellent prose and moments of unexpected plot twists, I didn't much like the narrator and had to push myself through some dry chapters.
Being released at the February 2011 Boston Bookcrossing Meetup.
I just finished the book. The story was okay, but the characters were developed to the point that I found myself wanting to find out what each would decide to do next or how they would react to other characters in the story. I felt I really knew them.
