from the back:
"Six months after a particularly nasty case, Detective Cassie Maddox has transferred out of Dublin's Murder squad and has no plans to go back. That is, until an urgent telephone call summons her to a grisly crime scene.
It's only when she sees the body that Cassie understands the hurry. The victim, a young woman, is Cassie's double and carries the ID identifying herself as Alexandra Madison, an alias Cassie once used on an undercover job. Suddenly, Cassie must discover not only who killed this girl but, more importantly, who is this girl? And as reality and fantasy become desperately tangled, Casie moves dangerously close to losing herself forever."

The best book I've read so far this year! (okay, so it's only the end of January). Actually, it's the best book I've read in the past few months. Right from the beginning I was sucked into Cassie's life and her undercover operation. Tana French slowly lays out clues and reveals small pieces of the story in such a manner that I felt like I was there, living in Whitethorn House with Cassie trying to solve the case with her. The Likeness is a most excellent read I highly recommend.

Received from Aberpeter this past weekend. Thanks!
Like the previous reader, I, too, felt as if I was living in Whitehorn House trying to figure out what actually happened and what the other residents were all about. Their lifestyle seemed a little odd to me and I kept wondering what they were hiding or who they were hiding from (beyond the murder). A well written book.
