CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Given to Otakuu at today's meetup.
(Oops, I've just noticed I didn't journal this book after I read it. It was a fascinating and moving account of a period of history I knew nothing about. A bit harrowing, but a great read.)

Received from FutureCat at a mini meetup today.
I really enjoyed this book, in fact couldn't leave it until it was finished. Although it is a work of fiction, the voice seemed very authentic.
The premise of the story made me think of the plight of all colonised peoples, including my own, who lost their identities through such simple strategies as the changing of names but it also reminded me that such things can be recovered if the desire is strong and a person is determined
