I've enjoyed several of Cy Tymony's books (despite the exceedingly irritating interjection of the word "sneaky" into every other sentence) -- they're educational in a slightly subversive DIY way.

This book is a bad marriage of concepts: the MacGyver DIY ethos with pedestrian eco-tips. I can figure out how to use cardboard boxes as recycling bins on my own, I don't need to be told again that re-useable shopping bags are Good or how to use vinegar as a household cleaner, and there are perhaps 100,000 other places I can find a list of PIC numbers and their meanings or learn to make a solar cooker without constant repetition of the 'sneaky'. PS: none of those things are remotely subversive or difficult. So everything pleasant about the 'sneaky' books is right out the window.

There are a couple of projects that might be interesting or fun, and in the first section there are demonstrations of different energy sources that could be used in teaching a grade-school science class.

Somebody will like this little book, I hope. Or at least be less annoyed by it than I was. So on it goes.
