Never read a Arthur Hailey yet; I know he has written Airport, a quite popular book, so I wanted to try this one out. 'Caught' during the super BC-BBQ at Deventer!
Finally read this 6 years later (I'm slowly reading all my bookcrossing books...). It wasn't quite what I expected, I thought it would be a suspense or detective, but it wasn't that kind of book at all. Still, quite enjoyable, though I did miss a little more suspense.
It's the story of daily life in a hospital, particularly in the pathology department, about what happens when doctors grow older and are gradually (or less gradually) submitted by younger doctors with new knowledge.
I had to look at the date to see when it was first published, because the doctors did a lot of smoking, even in the hospital, that was quite weird to read. Also, the roles of a married couple described in the book seem very old fashioned nowadays, very traditional.
I have no idea yet where I will leave this, but the best place I can think of is of course at a hospital, so I think I'll have to go there some time during lunch time from where I work (quite close by a hospital).
Thanks for the read, Marina!
