Interesting true story of a 12 year old girl who was kidnapped and abused for 80 days. Enjoyed it seems the wrong word as it really is an awful thing that happened to her, I guess I should say it kept my attention and I wanted to keep reading to see how she got out of there.
Not being ghoulish, but would have liked a little more detail - maybe not graphic, but I can understand she wanted her privacy and some of it is stuff she didn't want her mum to know, so obviously not wanting to tell the whole world. But sometimes you don't quite know exactly what happened.
It's a fairly quick read, I don't agree with other reviewers that it is badly written - she is a young girl in her 20's, and that's how it reads.
I wish this brave girl all the best and I hope the rest of her life is happier.

What a surprise. This book was in may mailbox today. Thank you.
Text inside; Sabine Dardenne chose to write this book for three reasons: 'so that people stop giving me strange looks and treating me like a curiosity; so that the judical system never again frees a peadophile for *good behavior* She testified at the trial of Marc Dutroux in 2004, eight years after her kidnapping. He was condemned to prison for life.
Edit april 21 :My opinion: I am relieved because there was so little detail about the actual abuse. It is good Sabine decided to remove those details from the letters she wrote to her family. The letters were found afterwards in the house where she was incarcerated. I share the view that unless a new girl, Laetitia, has been kidnapped and the witnesses noticed the car had probably Sabine hadn't survived.
The book makes me cry.

Wow, this has been on the move since 2010, still in good nick. It will resume its travels shortly.
This is a confronting read. I felt so sad and anxious for the 12 year old Sabine and in awe of her developing courage and determination to survive.
