Mrs McGillcuddy is travelling by train down to St Mary Mead to see her good friend Miss Marple when she witnesses a murder. While running parallel with another train she see a man strangling a woman. Mrs McGillcuddy does not see the man's face only the woman's. Immediately she tells the ticket inspector who is very sceptical, she also tells the station master when she arrives at her destination. The police are informed as well but no one but her friend Miss Marple [who knows she is not the type to imagine things] believes her, especially as no body is found. Miss Marple is soon on the case with a little help from her connections.
This is another great story with Miss Marple pulling the strings and solving a murder. Set in the 1950's and describes an England of the past. However, I did have to grin as I recognised that though we may now have mobile phones and laptop computers some things about the English never change! Classic Agatha Christie and a thoroughly enjoyable novel. I did not guess the murderer, can you?

This particular copy is older than me as the price of the front cover is in old money! That is when there was 240 pence to the pound and if you know anyone who remembers it they will tell about shillings, florins and crowns and how much pocket money they got or their first ever wage was in old money. Then they start converting prices of today into the old system of currency — that is when you better scarper before they bore you to death!
What I was going to say before I meandered off and probably starting to bore anyone reading this, is that this copy to off the to California and my doppelganger!

Oh boy! An Agatha Christie mystery that I haven't read. And it has that wonderful old book feelt to it. Thank you talkland!
I was sooo close to figuring this one out!
The mystery takes a little while to get rolling. I had to put it aside a couple of times. It took until about page 70 for the story to pick up.

I received this in the mail several weeks ago, and I just started it this week. So far it seems to be a nice Agatha Christie mystery. :)

Another great Agatha Christie mystery! I think I'm finally getting a little bit better at figuring these out before the end, because I had a small inkling of who the killer was before Miss Marple tied up the loose ends.
