CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Sending very, very belatedly to kingfan30. I really hope you enjoy the book now after waiting so long for it!!
Had forgotten all about, funny it should turn up just as I asked you about sending a surprise RABCK that will be going in the post tomorrow. Thanks for sending x
17 Aug 13 - I enjoyed this book, the way it was written felt very real, families do have issues and the family in this story suffered most problems. My only issue was the size of the family, it too a while for who was who to sink in, it could have done with a family tree in the front of the book to help refer to. I found the story told from Ruby's point of view easier to follow, maybe as it was told from beginning to end, whereas the footnotes skipped backward and forward in time.

This book is heading out as a book ray - there are no time limits on how long you have the book, but please keep it moving at some point.

The book arrived safely in Germany today; thanks for posting it!!
This is the first book I've ever read in which the first chapter is narrated by an embryo!!
I really enjoyed that aspect of the book, but didn't much like the 'footnotes' which were sometimes longer than the associated chapter and which, for me, didn't really add anything to Ruby's main story. After the first few 'footnotes', I skipped the rest of them.
Apart from that, I found this book extremely witty but often also sad.
And since I was born shortly before Ruby (no, not in the same family!!), I enjoyed the regular mentions of TV programmes, makes of cars, food brand names, etc. that many younger readers will probably never have heard of. :-))
Thanks a lot for the opportunity to read this book. I have the next reader's address and will be taking the book to the post office this evening.

And the book is now safely with me :)
It might take a while until I get to it, since my TBR mountain is huge, but I'll make sure it continues its travels!
Thank you so much for sharing, kingfan30 - and booksieboo for sending it to me.

Behind the Scenes at a Museum is a great dark comedy about Ruby Lennox and her family, and with some great movies & music references.
It was the most challenging book I’ve read in English, but I really like it :)
The book is now on its way to Bookworm-lady.
Ronsar asked to be skipped, and ccardoso30 has already a copy of the book.

Received, thank you very much for sharing it, Kingfan30!
I'm glad you are flexible with timings, as I really want to read this one, but my TBR mount has been increasingly piling up! :)
Happy New Year!

Currently reading it; sorry for the delay.
I will ask for Valpete's address, in order to continue the bookray.

OK, I have finally managed reading it.
Although it is beautifully written, and it keeps you wanting to learn more about these characters, I must agree with other readers: sometimes the family tree is hard to follow, and it is difficult to jump in time from past to present.
But it has been a pleasure to read, and some of the sub-plots are really interesting.
I think that Alice, Bunty and Ruby will stay with me for a long time.
All in all, an impressive first novel.
Thanks for sharing, Kingfan30; I already have Valpete's address, and the book will be on the last leg of this bookray soon.

Thanks for sending this all the way from Spain. I look forward to reading it!
I finally was able to read this book and loved it from beginning to end. As others have mentioned, it was difficult to follow (I never thought about skipping the footnotes). I will try to find someone who has it on a Wishlist. Thanks for your patience and for including me in this Ray.
Sending this along to another of my favorite BC'ers who has it on her Wishlist!
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
It is so lovely to have developed "bookcrossing special friends".... knowing you send your books off to someone who really wants them and will (eventually) read them is great! Many thanks to Valpete for noticing I had this on my wishlist, so now it has travelled the entire length of the USA from California to my little white house in Maine, and I look forward to reading it (having recently read Case Histories, I have been exposed to Kate Atkinson).
