"Winner of both a Booker Prize and a Pegasus Prize for Literature, The Bone People is a work of unfettered wordplay and mesmerizing emotional complexity." The story of a New Zealand woman, part Maori, part European, a speechless boy, and his Maori foster father -- "at once a mystery, a love story, and an ambitious exploration of the zone where Maori and European New Zealand meet, clash, and sometimes merge."
Picked up at a charity book sale, as it will be perfect for next year's 666 reading challenge. Will then send to akosikulot if she's still interested.

Was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book given the difficult subject matter. Definitely deserves al the accolades it has garnered. Would write longer review if not for technical difficulties.
Brought this to Gothenburg convention as a wishlist RABCK. Enjoy!

Difficult novel to describe! So full of hurt and so full of love. I liked it very much.

I found this book to be a very special read; in the beginning I struggled with the language and the style of writing and almost gave in, but in time, when I got used to the style it became a rewarding experience, and I can recommend it to future readers. An interesting and sad book from a part of the world that I knew little about.
This looked like a really interesting read. Since LeishaCamden had already read it, it went home with me for now.
