Ten years ago Phoebe Maybury's husband disappeared, and she was suspected of murdering him but it could never be proved. Her reputation and those of the two women who now live with her is poor with them being suspected of everything from murder to lesbianism to being part of a witches coven. Then a body is found in the ice house in her grounds. Could it be the body of her husband and what really happened ten years ago...?

I haven't read a Minette Walters' novel before. I have seen adaptations on telly, and they seemed to indicate that she was an excellent mysterious writer, so I was expecting good things. I must admit I was a little disappointed, it wasn't a bad book just an average one. I think it was mainly because I didn't warm to any of the main characters. I didn't feel that Minette Walters has any passion and that her writing is cool and calculated. I am not sure she even liked her creations! It is a good mystery though.
