1968 Harcourt, Brace & World hardcover, with dust jacket, stated First Edition, Book-of-the-Month Club Selection. By the stamp and penciled price inside, this copy was once sold for 10 cents out of Hink's Book Dept., formerly at 2224 Shattuck Ave. in Berkeley, a couple towns north of here. I found this copy yesterday in the free books pile on the porch of Dimond Library.
I can let this go after I read:
1924 Confusion [n/a]
1925 Michael Scarlett [n/a]
1928 Cock Pit [read 2013]
1929 The Son of Perdition [n/a]
1931 S.S. San Pedro [read 2016]
1933 The Last Adam [n/a]
1957 By Love Possessed [read 2019]
Edit November 30, 2020: The early works by this author were fairly interesting, but not very exciting in my later readings, and so I just skimmed this to end for time. I currently have this ranked at #2224 on my ranked list of best-read books lately.
