This book was purchased from the library book sale since I'd read another anthology like it and found an interesting new author. I also can't pass up Scott Westerfeld.

I was was passed this book from megami-no-ushi when I had finished my last book and didn't have one with me to start. I was to read it and then deliver it back to her. So I have read it and will pass back on Sunday when I see her.
Thanks for the read, can't say I was overly impressed... most of the characters seemed to be weak females that went a little crazy... not really my thing. I did enjoy the universe Scott Westerfeld created though. Thanks for sharing!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
releasing to the march YA meeting.
There are some interesting short stories in this anthology. I was amused by "Fan Fiction" with the toungue in cheek look at Twi-hards. The westerfield short story had a really interesting world that I want to see if anything else of his is set in.
Released for Secretariat's 2011 "Oh the places you'll go!" release challenge. http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/23/451310 "love is HELL"

I picked this up at the meeting today - figured I may as well since I read Prom Nights from Hell and I love Scott Westerfeld
I actually enjoyed this short story anthology! Of course the Westerfeld was the best, but I also really enjoyed the gothic feel of "Sleeping with the Spirit" and the strong protagonist in "Love Struck" who was not going to lose her identity or individuality for the sake of love.
Good stuff!
Good stuff!
This book fits our February theme 'Unusual Expreessions of Love' perfectly! I am bringing it to the Bookcrossing meeting at the Joshua Tree Cafe to share with everyone :)
Well, the first story was really lovely, and that wasn't even the one by Scott Westerfeld, so I have high expectations for this book.
I'd actually rate the stories differently, so I'll break them down. Spoilers ahoy.
Sleeping with the Spirit: I loved the feel of this and the graceful conclusion, and I really believed the lead female was in love without her acting like a raving loony. 9/10.
Stupid Perfect World: Scott Westerfeld makes fantastic Sci-Fi worlds, including this one, but I felt like there wasn't enough room for both the world and the characters in the story. The world was really striking and I really wanted to hear more about it, but the characters were like card-board cutouts, I really genuinely couldn't have cared less about them. 7/10.
Thinner Than Water: Opposite problem from SPW, I loved the characters, but I couldn't really get a sense of where and when I was (it might have been deliberate, but I didn't like it) but I thought it was good that Jeannie did actually get to the city after all. I had a horrible sinking feeling just before the end that she was going to go with Robbie after all, which would have been romantic and all, but would have totally destroyed her character. 8/10.
Fan Fictions: Full points for creepy. The romance aspect however, was seriously damaged by the fact that I had no doubts about the reality of Paige's invisible boyfriend. He was totally not real and she was totally, utterly crazy. 7/10.
Love Struck: My favorite story in the anthology. I loved that Murrin and Alana worked it out and it wasn't tragic. They actually managed to have a relationship that wasn't based on weird magic, or hopelessly dysfunctional! Success, and a nice happy twist on the Selkie myth, which is such a sad one usually. I liked that the series went out on a happy note. 9/10.

Grabbed at BC get together
These short, fluffy, supernatural pg romances were exactly what I was looking for. Although similar as a result of the love and hell theme, it was nice that each had varying degrees of mush, heartache, drama and fluff.
I found 'Sleeping with the Spirit' quite sweet. Scarcity class in 'Stupid Perfect World' made me laugh - that would be such an awesome class, and I loved how they thought that 'common cold' just meant feeling cold and didn't realize it meant gross and sick (though the teenagers were a bit high-school-silly). 'Thinner Than Water' made me both sad, since things like child brides and crazy prejudices do still exist in places today, but also satisfied that she never gave up on life and her dreams. The title 'Fan Fiction' didn't really seem quite right to me, but neat that the truth of what happened was left up for you to decide. And I just adored 'Love Struck' but then I've always loved Selchies.
Thanks for the delightful read!

Taking to get together
Picked up at the February Calgary BookCrossing Meeting at Cravings.
I picked this book up at the Calgary BookCrossing Group meetup and was handed it as something I should enjoy. Not so much... This book is definitely YA, and a very young YA. The writing was mixed from story to story and would make a decent entry into supernatural fiction for a 12 or 14 year old girl. However, not really my type of stories at that age, or now, despite the supernatural theme.
Controlled release at the Calgary Book Crossing meeting at Cravings.

And this one is back home with me again to determine how I want to send it off into the world.

Picked this book up at the monthly book crossing meeting at Cravings Market Restaurant.
A book full of short story romances, some of them ending happily others ending tragically. I have to admit my favorite was the story by Scott Westerfeld called Stupid Perfect World.
An easy quick read.

Kind of fun 'love stories'. Quirky. Thanks for the interesting read.

Picked up from the Calgary Bookcrossers' travelling bookbox 1! I have enjoyed some of the authors' other works so I'm excited to read these stories. Thank you for sharing this book with me!
Update 10th July 2021: So I read the first story "Sleeping with the Spirit" when I first received the book, and found it not to my taste. I put the book aside and was going to pick it up later for the other stories, but never got around to it. I don't think I'll be picking it up again so I'm passing it on. Thank you for sharing!
