Bought today at charity book sale.
Fun, inventive. Must have been a challenge to write. Donating to UUCM sale.
Decided to hold for VBB instead of donating. Such a fun book.
From Amazon:
Ella Minnow Pea is a girl living happily on the fictional island of Nollop off the coast of South Carolina. Nollop was named after Nevin Nollop, author of the immortal pangram,* “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.” Now Ella finds herself acting to save her friends, family, and fellow citizens from the encroaching totalitarianism of the island’s Council, which has banned the use of certain letters of the alphabet as they fall from a memorial statue of Nevin Nollop. As the letters progressively drop from the statue they also disappear from the novel. The result is both a hilarious and moving story of one girl’s fight for freedom of expression, as well as a linguistic tour de force sure to delight word lovers everywhere.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Sending to babsdotter as part of the general lit VBB. Hope you enjoy it as I did!
From VBB. It actually got here a few days ago, but I was out of town. I'm really looking forward to reading this. Thanks Laura.
I can't imagine how someone could have worked through this concept. The story was fun. I'm putting it back into the General Literature VBB for someone else to enjoy
Going in the mail for the General Literature VBB to 6of8. Enjoy!
Received in the mail yesterday. Mt TBR is huge, but I have been curious about this one for a long time, so it will likely not be too long before I get to reading it.
Thanks for sharing it!

Amazing!! Such a challenge to write logistically, and such a creative concept. A nice way of presenting the ideas of censorship, religious zealotry, and political power and what goes wrong when you mix the three. Will be recommending this book to many -- in fact, I had to interrupt writing this J/E to recommend it to someone.
Love the language and the wordplay of this book anyway, and it became more challenging as the letters disappeared. Found myself trying to come up with my own solution to Project Thirty-two, although I never got less than 47 myself.
Will be taking this to the next meet-up because I know if folks there haven't read it, they will love it.

Taking this to meet-up for someone to enjoy.
Picked up at the BC meetup in Old Town. The BC in DC group all said I had to read this book. I've heard of it before but haven't read it yet. It's going on Mt. TBR.
