Brought this out to California because I'd read reviews here on Bookcrossing that made me think it'd be really quite good. Sadly, I think the author overshot her original plan and put a bit too much into the novel. At just over five hundred pages (!) it easily could've been two books.

I didn't care for a lot of the action that took place. Ria struck me as rather naive, and Gertie was simply a fool, as her friends stated. I can't get into it beyond that because it'll give plotlines away. Come to think of it, most of the women characters were deceptive, stupid or blind to things going on under their very noses. Why keep appearances?

The men weren't much better, sorry to say. Loved Colm and Andy.
