Taking this book out of KiaraNala29's Teen/Pre-teen/YA Bookbox.

This looks like something I would like to read. I read a book by this author recently and really enjoyed it: Hope Was Here.

Book Description: Have you ever played the "if only" game? Well, if only Ellie's potentially prize-winning pumpkin would gain 200 more pounds in time for the Rock River Pumpkin Weigh-In, and if only Ellie could lose 20 or so pounds herself, her life might be perfect. Well, at least it would be perfect enough to give her the courage to make friends with Wes--the cute new guy at school. She's well on her way to winning big on all counts when frost and pumpkin thieves begin to attack! The thing is, Ellie has the sass, humor, and smarts to be a winner--whether or not her pumpkin breaks the scales ... if only she would realize it. Smashing!

My Review: I really enjoyed this book! This story has some great characters and a lot of heart and fun. I really wanted Ellie to win. I'm not going to say what the result was, you'll have to read the book to find out. *wink*

I'm taking this book from the Teens Bookbox. The giant-pumpkin-growing aspect sounds like fun! (I've enjoyed a couple of other books by this author, including Backwater and the very funny Thwonk.)

This was rather fun, with its chirpy narrator getting perhaps a bit too fond of "Max", her potentially-prize-winning giant pumpkin, and with her at odds with family members who see Max as just lots and lots of pumpkin pie. There are rival pumpkin-growers, too, some of whom might not be above sabotaging a competitor. Oh, and of course there's a potential love-interest for our heroine, but will she be able to juggle her interest in the new boy with her dedication to Max? And can he tolerate being second in her life after a big pumpkin?

Sorry for the late update! I work at the home depot this was left at, I just finished reading it. I thought it was a cute book with a lot of good life lessons that we tend to learn through out the years of our lives. I'm still trying to think of the perfect place to leave this book, it made me very happy to finally find a traveling book (I've read about them online) and I hope to find another one some day! :)
