Can't Be Arsed
2 journalers for this copy...
This is one of two books that I picked up at the Waterloo 'Camel & Artichoke' meeting, part of a large donation - so I am duty-bound to register. Thank you :)
Sub-titled '101 things not to do before you die', an antidote and counterblast to the new industry of things one *must* do before one dies, or in the words of the blunt Yorkshire author, '...be careful what you wish for - it might be a bit rubbish'
(30/10/10) Despite the obvious appeal to controversy, sarcasm & satire, Richard Wilson (no not *that* Richard Wilson) does have some interesting observations on the cult of the 'must-do' lists. His mockery is mostly aimed at the list-makers and the blind collectors of experiences...although he does a good stereotype of a grumpy Yorkshireman regarding anything that involves too much effort, peril or cost.
(ps. this is quite a good book for ideas on places to visit, things to do, books & films to try, but don't tell RW!)
