I absolutely loved the first "Dewey the Library Cat" book, so just had to have this one!
Note: The BCID sticker inside this book was custom made by BCer aetm -- the kitties in the photo are hers, and they are posing alongside my bookring book for "Homer's Odyssey". So cool! :)

Hmm, unfortunately, I didn't like this book a much as the original Dewey book. Maybe it's becuase it was a collection of 9 short tales, and I'm not a fan of short stories. Nonetheless, it was heartwarming to read stories about the amazing connection between kitties and humans, and how much they enhance our lives and bring us happiness. As a devout cat lover, I truly believe in the joy my pets bring me, and couldn't imagine living without them!
I'm going to pass this along to my equally-fanatical-cat-lover of a sister ....

I didn't know anything about this book until it was handed to me. I'm sure she had many stories to choose from!
My favorite parts of this book were about Vicki Myron and Dewey. I recently visited the library in Spencer, Iowa and was given a tour by a staff member who was there when Dewey was. I got to see where he was left in the book drop, where he ate and slept, where he got up on the lights, and the sweet memorials that remain in his absence. It was a great treat and because of it, the parts of this book that recall the Spencer Library really came alive for me.
Otherwise, I was disappointed with this book. It's not (as the title leads you to believe) a collection of stories about people who were inspired by Dewey's story in some way. Rather, it's some of the author's favorite stories that were sent to her by people who read the first book about Dewey and wanted to share how their own cat changed/affected their life. As a life-long cat-lover, I certainly identify with accounts of how essential they can be to a person and I do enjoy reading about other people's experiences. I laugh and I cry, but often during this book I also rolled my eyes because Myron gets a bit long on description in just about every chapter.
