Found a collection of this author's work at a cheap buy book shop.
I am glad this was the first novel I picked up to read because I really enjoyed it, something I cannot say for the subsequent reads, very disappointing.
This story is based during the social change from Colonial to self rule in India. It is a fascinating look into recent history and describes the difficulties of ex-pat life beautifully.
Well worth the read.

Picked up at the melbourne meetup, am looking forward to reading this!
Enjoyed parts of it because I had visited India and thought the description of culture good, however found it a little disjointed and really couldnt like the main character. Felt quite depressed after! However a great discussion from it on whether merging of cultures can work...
