First heard of this book (well, series) when it was announced as a television series. I enjoy mysteries, though they aren't my genre of choice, so I was a bit wary. I'm a sociologist at heart (especially in the context of deviant behavior), so I was curious enough about to try it out. The book is written in the first-person through Dexter's point-of-view and I found that in itself truly fascinating because Dexter himself doesn't really understand why he is a murderer; it's just his normal way of being. And even though he's a deplorable human being, he's very likable and charming. The story itself is somewhat predictable, which is a systemic issue I have with mysteries, but it's unique enough that I wasn't bothered by that. Definitely recommended, especially if you like a more cerebral mystery.
