The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

One of the many marvellous books I missed in my childhood because they then weren't yet translated into German. All the more avidly I read them as grown up :D which is a mistake of course. Reading avidly makes books all the more shorter ... and Lewis' Chronicles are by nature short enough.
... thus this be my advise:
No greedy speed is needed here.
Do read this book with care
and have a look in what lies there
beyond the words, besides the rhyme;
see how time might lose its zeal -
when lastly you can see for real
that lions sing and beavers chatter.
You know of course what is the matter:
you are arrived in Narnia :D
A pity that the terrific illustrations by Pauline Baynes are not assigned to this copy. I probably should replace it through one which is more similar to the original edition ...

Looking for Harry Potter volumes I stumbled upon almost the whole collection of the Chronicles of Narnia. I decided to take them all and keep them together. I'll have to look for the missing one, though.
