I love Medieval Murder Mysteries and particularly enjoy the Chronicles of Matthew Bartholomew, so was very pleased to find one I hadn't read in a discount bookshop in Telford, a town we were visiting during a 3-week tour of the UK. This is the 15th of his adventures.
Amazon Editorial Review: "Despite a new influx of well-heeled students, Michaelhouse has suffered from an acute lack of funds that has made itself manifest in a lack of decent provisions. It is only when the Brother in charge of the account books dies unexpectedly that an explanation is revealed: large amounts of money had been paid for goods the college never received. Although shocked by this evidence of fraud, Matthew Bartholomew is more concerned with the disappearance of a quantity of pennyroyal from his herbarium. Pennyroyal is known to cause a woman to miscarry, and a pregnant visitor to his sister's household has died from an overdose of the substance. Had she meant to abort her child, or had someone else wanted to ensure that she was unable to provide an heir to her husband's wealthy estates? When Matthew learns that it was the dead woman’s husband who had received Michaelhouse's missing money, he begins to search for other connections and quickly exposes a deep and treacherous conspiracy."

This is a particularly complicated tale of murder, deceit, theft and all sorts of dirty deeds, taking Doctor Matthew and Brother Michael from Cambridge into deepest Suffolk and back again and involving a huge cast of characters, both old and new. I enjoyed it and I hope it's next reader will too!

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Left at the post office, the first step on its journey to France!
Another parcel from Nu-Knees with a couple of good reads. This will go on the top of the TBR pile on my bedside table. Many thanks from this other fan of medieval mysteries.
A very appropriate title for this Matthew Bartholomew medieval mystery; many of the characters are hiding their true personalities - murderers, cheats, spies, it's full of all of them. Unlike other books in the series this one leave us with a real cliff-hanger ending, all ready for the next, which will be the sixteenth in the series.
Many thanks for passing it on Nu-Knees.

Started to read yesterday
Due to the CoVid19 Shutdown there will be no family visting this year so more time for reading. After finishing my last book, my view felt on this one in my book board.
I have read many but not all of the Matthew Batholomew Chronicles. The last one is long time ago. In my rememberence the stories were more captivating. But this was.....long and in parts boring.
