The Hand of Ethelberta (The New Wessex Thomas Hardy)

Really liked this Hardy novel! It wasn't at all what I expect from Hardy - there wasn't much grimness in it at all! I'm not saying that grimness is bad - I love most of Hardy's novels - but it was a refreshing change. I even laughed out loud at some parts!

Picked up from the post office today - along with three other bookrings/rays. Thank you Lucy.
I, too, enjoyed this Hardy novel - although I was disappointed that the 'best man' didn't win!
I've PMed oppem and await an address.

Heading off to oppem in tomorrow's mail.
Book arrived in todays post - thanks cat207. Have one quick book to finish reading & then this one will be next.
What a rollicking good read... I just had to postpone finishing cleaning the kitchen to find out the ending. As said previously, not as melancholy as Hardy's usual books - but that said it was as usual very well written, wonderfully descriptive, delightfully satirical and just a 'dam good read'...
As you can tell I enjoyed this book tremendously.
Will be sending on to Mafarrimond tomorrow...
Thank you lucy-lemon for organising this bookring.

Put into post today and now on it's way to mafarrimond in Flintshire. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
The book has arrived safely. Thank you for sharing it with me.
This is the first non-tragedy I have read by Hardy. It was enjoyable reading as ever - I was glad of the notes explaining some of the phrases!
Thanjk you for sharing. Another ticked off the 1001 list.

Sending on to Caroley. Enjoy!
Received today thanks!
I loved this. It was definitely much more light-hearted than the other Hardy's that I've read. I loved the ending. There was tension, and then came the twist. Marvellous.
Tess is still my favourite book by Hardy but this one comes fairly close just because it was slightly different.
Thanks for finding and sharing this one Lucy. I've PMd Libera13 and will post it on asap.
