I was supposed to release this in Swindon town centre on Sunday but got curious so have kept it for myself. It won't do my TBR pile any favours, but never mind!

Great read - a very well plotted thriller. I can see why they made it into a film. Mitch kept me guessing as to what he would do right until the end. And the way the menacing nature of the firm was gradually brought to light was excellent. It all starts on the first page where Grisham describes that they once had a female lawyer - who was a nightmare for four years and was killed in a car crash. Hmmmmmmmm!

The writing was good, though not brilliant. Mitch's excessive hours at the firm were perhaps over-egged in early parts of the book, but that's maybe because I woke up in the night thinking about them! Grisham's steely determination to chronicle each individual occasion when Mitch and his wife had sex became equally wearying at times.

But who cares about all this when you have dodgy lawyers, mafia, assasinations, FBI investigations and all such good stuff? I'll definitely try to pick up some of Grisham's other work.
