A belated birthday rabck for Retromonkey as its on her wishlist.

I really enjoyed the whole series & have the next 3 in my personal collection which I could lend to you if you enjoy this one. xx

Amazon Product Description:

Sephy is a Cross - a member of the dark-skinned ruling class. Callum is a nought - a 'colourless' member of the underclass who were once slaves to the Crosses. The two have been friends since early childhood. But that's as far as it can go. Until the first steps are taken towards more social equality and a limited number of Noughts are allowed into Cross schools...Against a background of prejudice and distrust, intensely highlighted by violent terrorist activity by Noughts, a romance builds between Sephy and Callum - a romance that is to lead both of them into terrible danger...

Wow, Thank you Martha - what a wonderful surprise (came with a load of goodies too!) I've been meaning to get round to this for ages. Now I have no excuse!

I found that Malorie Blackman tackles the issue of racism in a superb way for teenagers in this book, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Thanks so much for this RABCK retromonkey! Sorry it's taken me so long to journal, it's been a seriously hectic week/end. I'm already about 2/3 of the way thought it and loving it so far.

I finished this a couple of days ago at Dubai airport after accidentally reading the last page and desperately wondering how it got to that! (Note to future readers, there are 446 pages in this book, don't make the same mistake as me and go looking!). I thought it was a wonderful look at racism, and as retromonkey said, a superb way of looking at it for teenagers. I'll definitely be adding the rest of the series to my wishlist/looking for them at the library!

Passed this on to a friend who I thought might enjoy it. She'll either return it to me or release it on her own :)

Got this book just before leaving for an overseas trip and thought it might be good to read on the plane during a very long trip.
I see that the Observer critic wrote "Will linger in the mind long after it has been read". It sure hasn't done that for me but then these uberlong flights tend to make one forget all about what you've just read as you vow never to travel cattle class again..
Thinking back I believe it was good at the time and I'll likely have forgotten the rigors of the trip when I next want to go to Paris.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Book is going to the NZ/Aus UnCon on Stewart Island around 13 October 2017. Hope it will find a crime-loving Bookcrosser there - I am not attending myself but a very devoted book-crosser, EdwardStreet, is taking this book with her. Thanks so very much ES. Hope you don't find this too burdensome a chore. So many people tell me about the wonderful flora, fauna and delightful walks there. When a number of enthusiastic bookcrossers are added to the mix I am sure it will be a great experience for all.
