Given away free with the Scotsman newspaper a while back, this short volume includes extracts from several of the early Ladies' Detective Agency books, alongside some commentry from McCall Smith. A nice introduction to the series.

The Best of the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency - by Alexander McCall Smith :: Last night I plucked this from the huge pile of books at the BookCrossing Meet-Up because I recalled seeing recently that a BookCrosser I was in communication with wanted the first of this series and I though this would be a lovely starter! I have worked out it was Amethystlady64 so this will be a postal RABCK very soon…
I still have this so my last thought for it evidently didn’t pan out. Instead it will be travelling out as a St Valentine’s Day RABCK 2014 to an Honorary BookCrosser.

Received with thanks. As you know, I've read many of A McCall Smith's books and so I will be reading this before TC can actually delve into its delicate, small but tightly packed pages, so I'll add a review shortly as I don't think it will be on my tbr for long!
No, not on tbr long after all! A small but delightful precis of characters and background information from the various books which make up the first nine of the series.
This highlights the characteristics of the whole series and if you like this small offering - you will love the series.

Mr Flutterbies9 passed this back to me saying it was a good little introduction but he was not going to read the series so I should release this now.
As I had forgotten all about it (after all it was five years ago!), I re-read it and stand by my original post of 2014.
No set plan for this little volume but who knows what may happen to it yet?
