As fantasy books go, this was entertaining enough - I liked the concept, that a girl is born with magical abilities that involve glass and glass making. However, this is yet another of those modern fantasy books where I don't feel like the setting affects the characters at all - in a sense, the characters felt modern and ordinary, like they were people from twenty-first century Western Europe that just happened to live in a fantasy world. All in all an okay read in spite of this.
From www.amazon.co.uk :
"Untrained. Untested. Unleashed. With her unique magical abilities, Opal has always felt unsure of her place at Sitia's magic academy. But when the Stormdancer clan needs help, Opal's knowledge makes her the perfect choice - until the mission goes awry. Pulling her powers in unfamiliar directions, Opal finds herself tapping into a new kind of magic as stunningly potent as it is frightening. Now Opal must deal with plotters out to destroy the Stormdancer clan, as well as a traitor in their midst. With danger and deception rising around her, will Opal's untested abilities destroy her - or save them all?"

Read it! =D
Liked the story, it almost felt like a book #2, but then the clues would not have been slowly unveiling as in this story. I think I will have to read the next book where they're... !
A good fantasy book with neat magic and some tricks I've never before imagined!
Oh, and green bees!
