This is the extraordinary love story of Clare and Henry who met when Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six and were married when Clare was twenty-two and Henry thirty. Impossible but true, because Henry suffers from a rare condition where his genetic clock periodically resets and he finds himself pulled suddenly into his past or future. In the face of this force they can neither prevent nor control, Henry and Clare's struggle to lead normal lives is both intensely moving and entirely unforgettable.

I have bought a copy of this book for the Favourites Roundabout as this took over as my favourite after I read it. I did have second thoughts about sending it out, as many bookcrossers have already read it and it seems to divide people into loving it or hating it. However there may be someone out there who hasn't got their hands on it yet. If you enjoy the book, I would also recommend the film. It's a pretty good adaptation but, of course, some bits had to be missed out however I don't think it detracted from the story. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

The Time Traveler's Wife has arrived in Finland, thank you! I'm one of the people who haven't read this one yet and am very much looking forward to it. Thanks again :)

Wow. I knew of this book but would probably not have picked it up if not for this roundabout. I was a bit hesitant even when I started reading it as I'm not much into fantastical fiction or sci-fi and also because the idea of a young girl meeting a grown man made me feel uneasy. Yet I ended up absolutely loving the book. Hence the wow :)

This is such a beautifully written and carefully crafted story that I was sold after the first few chapters. I liked the characters as well, even though Clare seemed a little too good to be true at times. I found the book very touching, too. And not just the romance part but also the friendships. The scene where Henry and Gomez say their goodbyes brought tears to my eyes.

I'm still a bit bothered about the idea of time travel, particularly as it's explained as a genetic disorder. But I like how someone called Marc Mohan describes the novel (according to Wikipedia) as using "time travel as a metaphor to explain how two people can feel as if they've known each other their entire lives". That works for me!

Thanks very much for sharing this book, earthcaroleanne!

Third book on the roundabout! I've actually read this one a couple years ago, and like everyone else I loved this book (and the movie adaptation) to bits and pieces. Thanks for sharing, earthcaroleanne, and thanks for sending out, AnniManni! :)
