Devices and Desires
1 journaler for this copy...
I bought this almost-new hardcover from the library sale table over 10 years ago - the cash register receipt is still in the book. My husband read it recently and I think I might take it along for reading and releasing on our upcoming vacation.
Adam Dalgliesh has recently inherited Larksoken Mill in Norfolk from his aunt. Needing to get away from the publicity when his most recent book of poetry is published he escapes to Norfolk. The Norfolk Whistler is still at large and his latest victim is from Larksoken, an employee of the Nuclear Power Station. Although this is not Dalgliesh's territory, he can't help but become somewhat involved, especially when he discovers a body. This was a good mystery and well written. As usual, I didn't find James's characters very likeable.
