This book was so sad to read....I think what bothered me the most was the racism between the black people......there was a bit of white against blacks.....but it was very prominent between the different classes of black people.....the wish of a young black girl to be accepted by having 'blue eyes' was so painful to hear....not to mention the 'rapes' between classes and family and the general just dislike of human beings.....it's hard to believe that just 70 years ago this was so prominent and how much the world has changed.....we still have discrimination......but we are also so much more accepting of others and their differences.
