WILD RELEASE NOTES:
An amazing book - I'd put it as a real classic of 20th century literature. I've hung on to it for ages, meaning to re-read it, but I figured I should put it back out to sea to get more readers!
Monsarrat describes events of WWII vividly, allowing you to glimpse how they must have felt to people there. And Father Salvatore is a wonderful character. A great book indeed.

Released at the Unconvention, Leeds, 28/09/2013. One of several books that had been unread on my shelf for far too long.
Picked up at the 2013 Unconvention. I have read this before but it was years ago. As I'm on my way to Malta I thought it was too good an opportunity to miss. I'll read it and release it there - I may not get a chance to make a release note.
I rarely give a book 10, but this really is wonderful. I read it years ago and remembered being moved by it at the time, but to read it here, in Malta, looking across the straight to Gozo and having visited so many of the places mentioned has made it particularly special. Though fictional, the book really brings to life the suffering during Ww2, whilst uncovering its history of occupation since the Phoenicians first landed. A wonderful insight into the history of the island, and better than any guidebook.
