Tomi is a student at Roosevelt High School in Honolulu..in 1941. He hangs out with his friends, plays baseball, and tries to cope with his family. When Japan attacks the United States, his life suddenly becomes a lot more complicated.

My parents are sansei and Roosevelt High School graduates, albeit a few years younger than Tomi, and my great-grandfather was taken to Sand Island and then to the mainland, so I find stories like this one and A Boy at War fascinating.
