Journal Entry 1 by Ri from Cincinnati, Ohio USA on Saturday, August 14, 2010
In these days of "extreme parenting" it is refreshing to read a book that celebrates the simplicity of parenthood and shows moms how to jump out of the "mommy madness." Being a perfectionist myself, I fell easily into the pit of trying to be the perfect mom - making all the right choices for my kids, my family, the environment. It can be completely overwhelming. Maybe other moms don't need to hear it, but I was grateful to adopt the "perfectly fine" parenting mentality offered in this book. I hope that this book is able to help other parents be more gentle and forgiving of themselves. It certainly helped me stop worrying about the things I may have done that my children will need to work out with their therapist in the future! (Goodness, now I sound really neurotic!) Seriously, this is a great book to help parents focus on what is really important to you and your family and leave the rest behind.
