When the body of a murdered woman is found in the extraordinary, decaying city of Beszel, somewhere at the edge of Europe, it looks like a routine case for Inspector Tyador Borlú of the Extreme Crime Squad. But as he probes, the evidence begins to point to conspiracies far stranger, and more deadly, than anything he could have imagined. Soon his work puts him and those he cares for in danger. Borlú must travel to the only metropolis on Earth as strange as his own, across a border like no other.
Oh wow, absolutely mindblowing, un-put-downable and excellently written. China Mieville sticks impeccably to the intriguing concept he's come up with, and plot-twists-aplenty keep you hanging on roller-coaster-style. I will DEFINITELY be tracking down more from this author!

Received today *mooched* from jennymidget. Thanks so much for sending. Interesting to note this novel also mentioned in the weekend papers being shortlisted for science fiction's highest honour, The Hugo Award which is to be announced in Melbourne next weekend. I plan on taking this one with me on holiday next month.
Well this one is still sitting on my shelf and after a request from India I have started reading today for posting in December.
Started but then abandoned as it didnt appeal. Requested as a book exchange and happy to send on to a fellow bookcrosser in India via Sydney.
Collected the book from the post office today. Love China Mieville, so looking forward to read this before I pass it on to prachitulshan.
