During the school year, second grade students from Oakcrest Elementary in West Jordan, Utah (USA) will have the opportunity to be a host for Kodie Koala and his collection of books, postcards, and other things that come from Australia. Thank you, Glenystasmania, JuneQueensland, PaulsBooks, and ChubsieWhubsie, for making this exciting project possible.

Chapter 1
By Kaylee

I had a lot of fun with the koala bears. The first thing I did was read a book to the Kodie Koala and her baby. The book I read was called "Koala". They both loved it because it was about them. Next I thought that the baby was hungry. I got a bottle ready and gave it to the mother so she could feet it. The baby was happy.
The last think I did was give Kodie Koala a make-over. I combed her hair and put a flower on her head. She looked very pretty.

Mrs. Ostler's editor note: Kaylee had some cute pictures to add to this journal entry.
She had one taken of her reading to the koalas, one of the baby being fed with a toy baby bottle, and one of the make-over.

Chapter 2
By Garrett
When I got the koala, I played with her. I took her on our vacation. We went camping at Bear lake. We took her with us to get a milkshake. It was yummy!! I will miss Kodie and her baby.

Garrett read five of the books in Kodie's bag and took pictures of Kodie during his vacation.
What fun!!

Oakcrest-Eagles selected a name for the baby koala that Kodie has snuggled in her arms.
They named him Koko.

Jaiden is a beautiful seven-year-old girl. Her brown eyes sparkle with enthusiasm, and
her smile lights up the room. Kodie and Koko loved spending the last eight days with Jaiden and her family. Jaiden entertained the koalas and her her family by reading the books in the Australian bag.
This is Jaiden's journal response:

I read to Kody and Koko every day. They slept with me in my bed. I took them to the soccer game. At my house, my friend got to play with Kody and Koko. She loved them.
I do too. My family is glad I got to bring all the stuff home to show them. I love to read to Kody and Koko. All the books are good and Kody and Koko are the cutest in the whole world!!!!!!!
