1986 Bantam Spectra paperback of the 1980 debut sf classic. 1986 cover art by Jim Burns is similar to the picture icon attached to this same ISBN. Inner illustrations by David S. Perry. This was on my list of best past sf to read, when I found this copy some months ago in the free books pile on the porch of Dimond Library.
Edit May 9, 2021: This was pretty good, but I just skimmed to end for time. The expedition ship goes into the sun. I currently have this ranked at #1431 on my ranked list of best-read books lately.
