It is Holy Month in Turkey but, as Inspector Cetin Ikmen soon discovers, some prefer sin to virtue, no matter how deadly the consequences.

The body of a young woman is discovered in a cave in the remote rural region of Cappadocia, and Ikmen is summoned from Istanbul to investigate. Having met a violent end, her corpse has lain undisturbed for two decades. Is she the same woman who captured Ikmen's heart all those years ago? Someone in this country backwater knows who murdered her, and why.

But decades of folklore, feuding and gossip surround this community. And it is clear that some locals have no regard for the truth and are leading Ikmen on a far from merry dance...

As usual I enjoyed Ms Nadel's tale of the Turkish police though Inspector Ikmen takes such little care of himself that I'm amazed he's still alive to catch the criminals.
