Wow!! I had never heard of this guy before I went into a local used book store and the book caught my eye. It turns out that this guy grew up less than 10 miles from where I live. Anyway, this book is really weird but compelling. Part fiction, part autobiography, "Zeta" becomes a Chicano lawyer, defending militants and activists in East LA. He even ran for LA county sheriff and came in 2nd. Also weird that I was in high school in LA during the times covered in this book, and I was totally ignorant of those events. He was also the inspiration for one of the main characters in Hunter S. Thompson's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". Too bad the guy was so racist, sexist, drug-crazed. He could have been a great hero to many.
