Different cover. 8th in the Kinsey Milhone series.

This was definitely one of Kinsey's most dangerous and nail-biting cases. Grafton expertly wove the tension slowly but surely into the storyline, with Raymond becoming more menacing and psychopathic as each page turned. Strong characterisation helped the story along and it was great to see Kinsey being tough without being overly "macho" but certainly a lot braver than I'd be in that situation :-)

Oops sorry, this arrived a few days ago. Am currently reading a book called, So long and thanks for all the fish :0). As soon as I finish that one I will move back into the slightly more sane world of Sue Grafton!

I'm so sorry I have just found this underneath the coffee table! No excuses really, I just completely forgot it had arrived - I think it got hidden away when we had visitors...
Will read it as soon as I can and get it moving again. Thank you.

Finished this late last night. I found it quite an abrupt ending, but maybe that was more to do with me trying to get to the end to get to bed - didn't want to put it down so that's a good sign!
I will get in touch with the next reader and hopefully get this in the post on Wednesday when I have my day off work.

Just got this, and I'm excited that I'll get to read it. Loving these books!

Journal Entry 12 by JonniC at Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom on Monday, July 29, 2013
Finished this book, and I did enjoy it to an extent, but I found myself taking my time in reading it. It didn't engage me as much as the other books have done, and I think it is due to the undercover thing, and has nothing to do with being a proper PI, like the other stories told.

I give it top marks for variety, this was a whole different story and something totally unexpected. I think it was good in that way as it wasn't the average "person comes in and asks for her to look into this thing, she solves it and charges them". I also liked how dangerous this one was, and the ending surprised me.

Bibianna and Raymond were great characters, and I also learned to fall in love with the pit bull.

But that is all the good things out the way. I miss the PI side, the whole looking into a case in a different side and a different way. I always like to try and guess who the culprit is and I laugh whenever I get it wrong.

I don't think the undercover thing interested me much. However I can't wait for the next book!

Will send this out when I get the chance.

As stated by previous journallers, Kinsey is working undercover in this book. She is trying to bring down an insurance fraud ring. I enjoyed the plot and characters. Looking forward to the next book in the series and Kinsey's next adventure.
