Mußte das Buch aber trotzdem kaufen, und siehe da, es ist wieder besser als der Post- oder gar der Bankroman, und soviel Fußball wird letztendlich auch nicht gespielt. Wobei ich an einer Stelle den Verdacht hatte, dass die Abseits-Regel erklärt wird. Das ich das erkannt zu haben glaube, fällt in die Kategorie des komplett-nutzlosen Wissens.

Obwohl ich es gar nicht unbedingt als tyoischen Scheibenweltroman bezeichnen würde, haben mir die philosphischen Gedanken gut gefallen. Als würde ab und an der Geist einem Gedanken nachschweben. Schön. Ansonsten wunderbar absurd witzig und wir haben eine neue Species: Den Orc ;-)

Well, I was already late for my train, but then I thought "just check the mail on the way, that won't take long"... I missed my train of course, but I had something to read during the boring train journey! I'm not very far into the book, because I haven't read english Terry Pratchett for a while, and I find it rather difficult to get into it again. But it's fun! :)

UPDATE: Ich bin jetzt bei Seite 40 angekommen und kapier überhaupt nichts. Da ich wenig Lust habe mich damit weiter zu quälen schicke ich es nun an tiger-kuh-katze. Entweder das Problem besteht darin, dass ich absolut keiner Ahnung von diesem Scheibenwelt Kram habe, oder ich bin wirklich nicht in der Lage n englisches Buch zu lesen. Trotzdem danke, dass ich teilnehmen durfte.

Das Buch macht sich heute nach einigem hin und her in der Liste der Lesenden, auf die Reise zum nächsten bookcrosser. Ich hoffe du hast mehr Spaß mit dem Buch als ich. Danke, dass ich an dem Ring teilnehmen durfte!

Just finished and I really loved the story of football in Ankh-Morpork - and now I know that "it's a boy thing! It's like little girls and the colour pink!" (p.258). And of course the story of micromail and the first discworld-topmodel (I had the feeling that Trev is Beckham and Jools Posh Spice) and the very smart Glenda ("The right tone from a woman with her arms folded always bounces an answer out of an unprepared man before he has time to think, and even before he has time to think up a lie." p.299f/ "Did you see that she tried to stare me down?" said Margolotta. "Yes," said Vetinari. "I saw that she succeeded." p.457). I burst into laughter as I read about Mrs Whitlow hiding food and tobacco from the wizards but not the assets of the last resort ("Dear Archchancellor, I just didn't have the heart." p.461).

Yes, this book completely described the feelings about football - the chanting, the beeing one of a crowd - I feel the same every time when there is a championship. It was a great read! *singing* "One Makaronah, there's only one Makaronah, one Makaro-naah" (p.479)

The book arrived two days ago and I already started reading. The first few pages are promising.

I have just finished the book and it turned aut to be as amazing as all the others I have read so far. I am not the big football fan but reading this way about it is funny and awesome. I am always impressed it which way Terry Pratchett is able to use ordinary things and known stories and put it under a different light. I like his point of view.

The book travels on as soon as I have the next address.

Sicher und authentisch gealtert wieder bei mir eingetroffen.

Vielen Dank für das Buch sagt die pratchettsüchtige Familie!

Es mangelt ein wenig an Spannung, da wäre ein Erzählstrang weniger vielleicht besser gewesen. Aber die Sprache: wundervoll wie immer! Man möchte auf jeder Seite einen Satz laut vorlesen. Und Freudentränen lachen. Ich mochte Mr. Nutt. Und Glenda.
Und das mit der Abseits-Regel ist mir auch aufgefallen, aber mein Mann meinte, das wäre nicht ganz so wie im richtigen Fußball. Na ja, ist mir auch egal.

Wieder bei mir.

gelesen für die Challenge "Vom Mount Everest zum Brocken"

Ja der Fußball, der interessiert mich gar nicht, aber ich habe mich köstlich amüsiert (auch über die Erklärung vom Abseits). Meine ewig gleichen Mitreisenden in der S-Bahn werden sich vielleicht die letzten Tage über mein blödes Grinsen gewundert haben, das war mir herzlich egal.

Leider hat der Band etwas gelitten und besteht zum Teil aus einer Lose-Blatt-Sammlung, daher bleibt er erst einmal bei mir, bis jemand gezielt danach fragt.
