The Birlings are enjoying a family dinner party to celebrate the engagement of Sheila and Gerald when the door bell rings. It is an inspector who announces that he is investigating the suicide earlier that day of a young woman. At first the family deny any involvement but gradually they are all implicated in her tragedy. However, all is not quite what it seems - right up to the final curtain.

Realised too late that it is a play. Well - I will try to enjoy it anyway
