Bought at the Indiana Free Library used book sale in Indiana, Pa., to release in the wild.
As I was reading this book, I kept checking the back cover to make sure it said it was a Miss Marple mystery. I got to page 10, page 20, page 50, page 100, and still no Miss Marple—I thought there had been a misprint. But no, she appears around page 150, just in time to put all the pieces together. I liked the Burtons and the mystery (for the most part), but I'm not sure Miss Marple was necessary for the denouement—the Burtons could have figured it out themselves. As with many Agatha Christies, the sexism annoyed me even though it was probably true to the period of the book (first published in 1942).
Passed along to Sister No. 3 to read and most likely return.
