Devastatingly beautiful.

Horrific, gruelling, but gorgeously written. I could have easily read this novel in one sitting, but instead read it over a period of five nights, putting it down so that I could absorb what I had read each time.

I will admit to being diappointed by the ending, but this did nothing to take away the power of the overall story.

I was given this book by a friend who introduced me to Book Crossing.
It is a bleak, sparingly written book that manages to portray the bleak aftermath of an unexplained apocryphal event. A father and son struggle to survive as they trudge the road to God only knows where. I found it difficult to read initially but then compelling, as I got used to the writer's style. Interestingly in an article for copywriters I was reading the other day, the author recommended reading this book as a superb example of using fewer words to convey your message. I don't know that I can say I enjoyed it but I'm glad I read it.
I'll leave it in the wild today.
