Having seen the YouTube video and an hour-long documentary, I thought I might know everything there is to know about this story. I'm happy to say that this book adds all of the detail you could want about Christian's lucky life and lovable personality. Knowing all of this, you would be surprised if he DIDN'T leap into the arms of his people-pals whenever they met.

She liked it and passed it back to me. Now offered up for iwillrejoice's Audio VBB and claimed by imawinn2. Enjoy!
This arrived while I was on vacation. Thanks for sending it my way. Looking forward to listening to this incredible story. :-)

This is the true story of of Christian, his owners, his life as a lion growing up in London, England (as a resident in a chic boutique) and the events leading up to his release into the wilds of Africa. You may remember Christian from the famous video when he lovingly greeted his former owners after being in the wilds for over a year. This is a wonderful, heartwarming and amazing story. As I listen to this, I often found myself thinking of a family from my own hometown who had a young pet African Lion named LeRoy. The family had received him from a wildlife park that went defunct. I remember one particular party at this family's house when LeRoy was sequestered to a bedroom to keep him protected from the party goers. I was one of the lucky ones who were allowed to meet LeRoy and pet him. I also remember waking up on the family's couch the next morning (yes... I passed out and my friends left me there) and heard LeRoy walking through the living room and saw him poking his head over the back of the couch to check me out. LOL! Yep... one tale to tell future grandchildren.
Thanks for sharing this fantastic audiobook Moody-Blue. I am now going to put it in one of BigJohnLefty's Audiobook bookboxes that happens to be at my house for the moment.

OMG I'm so thrilled this was in the box! I've seen the YouTune vid and the documentary, and I have been wanting to read this book for so long. I can't wait to read it. Hope I don't tear up while driving. Thank you so much! I'm so excited about this book :-)

This was adorable. Like most people nowadays, I've seen the youtube video of the reunion and I've seen part of one of the documentaries. But I didn't know the whole wonder story of this lion living in London.
It was amazing to learn about what these two (three! and more!) friends went through from time time they first saw (and named, ironically) Christian to the times they visited him in Africa. I was captivated, hearing about all the ins and outs, the complications and the joys. I can't believe that they were able to keep him in an antique store and there wasn't more damage (I feel like my tiny little cat would damage everything LOL). I adored the beginning and the fun life he Christian led there for a few months until he grew too big. But it was just amazing to learn about all they went through to get him to Africa and help him adjust.
I was worried that it would end badly for Christian. And there were certainly a number of deaths, but not the ones I was expecting. I did tear up a few times and gasp a few other times.
I also liked that there was extra material put together from letters and their reaction to the video. That gave it an even more personal feel :-)

Adding this to BigJohnLefty's First CD-Only AudioBookBox.
I never heard about this story either, but it sound interesting. The audiobook is to stay with me a little while!
A very interesting story. First: how does anybody gets it in their head to have a lion growing up in the middle of London (or even more to sell it at Harrods???). Different times indeed. Second: amazing how sociable lions can be with humans and how well that relationship seems to be going long after Christian is released. And last but not least: a good and needed appeal to protecting wildlife.
Releasing this into Big John Lefty's Other AudioBookBox. Safe travels!
The book notes look interesting, I can't wait to have time to read it. From BigJohn's bookbox
