Another awful Booker winner. Nothing happened to capture my interest. Maybe I am missing the point or something but I did not see what was so special about this one. I think I will pass this onto someone who enjoys Booker books more than me.

Quite a slow book, it didn't exactly grip me, but it's an interesting read. Not much action and very fragmented, one has to piece together Edith's life - basically it is about her following her life, trying to come to terms with it. In a broader sense it's probably about feminism, about a woman leading her own life, without getting married, facing the social stigma of an unmarried woman. There are some great character studies and brilliant observations.
